Eloquential on Lauren

When Lauren is not creating breathtaking minimalist paintings in bold, vibrant color, she is guiding her students to tap and release their own creative visions. A nurturing mentor and confident teacher, she needed to ground herself for the new task of promoting her book and talking about herself. When a presenter feels that the spotlight is on her, and not in a comfortable way, we help her to redirect that focus onto the audience with the purpose of instructing and illuminating them. Once Lauren regained her footing as a helpful, generous guide, her performance blossomed. Kim attended one of her bookstore appearances and was enthralled from start to finish.

Lauren on Eloquential

From the moment I met her, I knew Kim was exactly who I needed for my first, big reading of my new book, Studio Stories. I’ve never enjoyed speaking in front of large groups. I was nervous about what to wear; how to deal with challenging questions; and how much of my book to read.  Kim helped me figure all of this out, always with the overriding aim of my being comfortable onstage.

Kim had read enough of my book before our meeting to have a good feel for it and what parts would be important to share in a reading. She was insightful and gentle. I used everything she taught me, from intonation, to underlining key phrases. She let me know that I could use my natural humor and candor, and made me feel like it would be okay to get up there and be me. We even worked on some possible sticky questions I was concerned about getting at the reading. I wholeheartedly recommend Kim and look forward to the next time we work together.
